In a whirlwind trip, before heading to Cabo San Lucas, I spend a few days in Calgary, Canmore, Banff and Vancouver.

I photographed 5 awesome couples and got the chance to visit so many friends!

I hiked, tried Lagree West for the first time (I pulled my foot, I guess that’s a thing lol), ate donuts, snuggled babies, ran around a bunch of mountains and forests and streams. It was the best.

Here’s a highlight of my west coast swing via my iPhone. Enjoy!

Hanna + Cody’s Intimate Island Wedding
 by Monique Pantel

Sometimes there are really cool perks in my job. One time I got to go to Kenya. Another time I got to experience a private jet. And this time, I got to go on a very, very fancy yacht called the Grace Anne II. Cody and Hanna had a lot to celebrate this past year. Cody is a wildly talented NHL forward for the Las Vegas Golden Knights who’s team played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year. He then proposed to Hanna on their road trip back home after an incredible season together. And then, they had the most epic wedding week I think I’ve ever experienced. It included a yacht party with their immediate family, a beautifully intimate ceremony and reception on their island with their pups and family. Cody and Hanna also invited Scott Bagshaw (incredibly talented chef and restauranteur) to prepare their reception meal after their ceremony. And then finally a massive party at Smith Restaurant in Winnipeg. I’ll honestly never forget that week!

I’d been following Sami on Instagram for a few years, and when she messaged me about photographing her wedding - my heart skipped a beat! This little blonde beauty is totally a soul sister. She’s passionate about holistic nutrition, yoga and is a total ball of positive energy.

We kicked off the wedding weekend in Minneapolis on a sunset cruise on Lake Wayzata and it set the tone for the weekend: romantic, windy, a little bit boozy and tons and tons of laughter. Wade and Sami’s wedding day was so classically beautiful, I found myself pinching myself over all of the little details and impeccable taste! They also made Wade’s late brother, Todd’s memory celebrated and remembered, having a special seat at the head table. Todd was a really special young man, who’s courageous battle with cancer over a decade ago inspired so many people in the prairie hockey community to come together for a cause. Everyone who knew him was so touched by it.

The ceremony and reception at Hutton House was packed with laughs and a few roasts. You’ll definitely be able to tell from the pictures. I also have to give SUCH a nod to their wedding planner Ashley, who was unbelievably organized, positive and did I mention she also did the florals? This is insane in the wedding industry - I have no idea how she did it! Anyhoo, enjoy the magic that was Sami & Wade’s blissful wedding day!
